The development and adoption of CORS across Australia has been a slow but progressive process. Covering Australia’s populated areas with a CORS network requires over 1000 CORS stations. At an estimated $50,000 each (Allen Report xxx20xx) this equates to a major infrastructure investment. Due to the vast distances involved RTK surveying solutions have included a single base a UHF radio transmitter and a GNSS rover.With limited funds and the GFC stretching the public purse development of a high accuracy CORS has been slow and frustrating for government and technology companies like Checkpoint.
